Curriculum This Year: Phonics

*This post contains affiliate links, which means that if you click on one of the product links and shop, I'll receive money to help me continue to be a SAHM*

Hi again! I'm back with another curriculum post. Today I'll be talking about my choice for phonics. I chose to use what my husband's school is using for phonics because eventually the boys will probably be going there.
We are using "Spell to Write and Read" which is not the easiest to follow, but I can already see how great it is going to be for my boys. It incorporates phonics, cursive, reading, and spelling to help children master reading. We just finished our third week of homeschool and I'm still trying to learn exactly how to use this curriculum, but this is what we've done so far.
The boys have been learning how to write cursive letters. This is an example of how they teach "clock" letters (a, c, d, g, o). These pictures were from their first cursive lesson. They both really enj…

Curriculum This Year: Math

*This post contains affiliate links, which means that if you click on one of the product links and shop, I'll receive money to help me continue to be a SAHM*

Alright we have officially started homeschool as of a week ago (hence the lack of posts). I am back with another post about curriculum today. Next in our homeschool schedule is math, so that's what I'll be talking about today!

Math is not a subject I'm too concerned about teaching. Not that I'm NOT going to teach it, but I don't think I'll need to much to teach my boys. My oldest enjoys math more than reading and can do most of his work on his own (at least currently). My oldest has been in school for 2 years already and already has a grasp on beginning kindergarten concepts. I had looked into a few different options and then saw that my school where I was teaching had some leftover workbooks for K-3 math! My husband asked our principle if we could take them (or pay for them). He let us take one of eac…

Curriculum This Year: Bible

*This post contains affiliate links, which means that if you click on one of the product links and shop, I'll receive money to help me continue to be a SAHM*
As I mentioned previously, this year I will be homeschooling! I'm super excited and have spent way to much time trying to plan out what I wanted to do! Though it is similar to prepping for a new school year, it is a whole lot different when you don't have someone telling you what you have to teach and which curriculum you need to use!

These next few posts I'll be telling a little more about the curriculum (or types of activities) I'll be using this year. Today I'm going to talk about what we'll be doing for Bible.

Since we've been planning to homeschool for almost 2 years, I've done a lot of searching to try and find the right fit for each subject. My husband and I really like the Classical Approach to teaching, so many of the subjects will (hopefully) go along with that model. F…

The Change I Referred To....

Hi everyone! Last post I mentioned that there were some big changes ahead for my family. Well, the changes have begun!

My family and I had been contemplating moving and after we visited the states 2 years ago, we decided it was the right time to move back to the states after being in Japan for many years. Last month we flew back with 8 carry on bags and 8 checked bags full of our 8 years of life in Japan.
My husband will be working at a private Classical school and I will be staying at home for at least a year to homeschool our boys. I’m hoping I’ll be able to post more here as I’ll have a little more free time. My posts will probably be more related to homeschooling than my products (as they have been lately).
One more thing that I will be doing to help raise some money, is sell Usborne books. I became an Independent Consultant for Usborne Books & More shortly after arriving back to the states! I’m very excited about sharing these books. My consultant kit came in with some awesome b…

Teacher Appreciation Sale! *May 8-11*

This week is Teacher Appreciation Week, but I'm sure you already know that ;)  I would like to celebrate all of YOU by offering all my products on sale Monday-Thursday! I am offering 20% off every item in my store. Wondering about Friday? Read to the end to find out!
Take advantage of the big sale by buying one of my bundles to prepare for the new year. I have a few literacy related bundles great for K-3.

My most popular bundle is my Journeys Kindergarten Yearlong Bundle. In this bundle you will find homework and classwork to go along with each week of Journeys. This is very helpful if you have students who need some extra practice.

My second most popular bundle is my Journeys 2nd Grade Yearlong Interactive Notebook Pages.  I created and used these for 2 years with my students and it gave them something to take home and practice each week before the test. My favorite part is probably the phonics charts. They were really useful since I taught ELL students.

My third most popular …
